Issue 2 of the European Union Economic Partnership Agreement and Caribbean Single Market and Economy (EPA-CSME) Newsletter has been released, under the title: “Towards A Stronger Caribbean: The EPA and CSME Standby Facilities for Capacity Building”. The newsletter features select projects implemented across CARICOM from the CSME and EPA Standby facilities for Economic Development.
Jamaica is included in the list of CARICOM member states to have benefitted from this Standby Facility. Over the last three (3) years, the Bureau of Standards Jamaica’s Packaging Centre underwent a J$40M upgrade, administered by the Caribbean Development Bank. The upgrade was facilitated with funding from the European Union (EU), through the CSME Standby Facility for Capacity Building; the project was called “Capacity Building for Market Access”. The BSJ is now in a better position to more effectively facilitate the needs of its clients. Through the improved services of the Packaging Laboratory, our clients will be better able to trade on the local and international markets.
