The Modern Bamboo Craft & National Certification Workshop will introduce the CNC technology to the Jamaican Bamboo Industry. The machine is computerized technology that aims to develop new bamboo crafting skills for Jamaican Innovators, Entrepreneurs and MSMEs. The first workshop of Module 1 takes place 30-31 July 2019 inside the BSJ's Multi-Purpose Facility, sessions are also scheduled for 29-30 August, 24-25 September, 24-25 October and 28-29 November 2019.
To develop new bamboo crafting skills for Jamaican Innovators, Entrepreneurs and SME’s throughout the island
To ensure that those trained above are able to produce high-quality bamboo craft products for the local, Region and International Markets.
The new skills inculcated will give the trainees the ability to be innovative and creative, thus strengthening their entrepreneurial ability to earn and employ others in their respective businesses.
Attendees will understand the requirements for gaining the BSJ/NCBJ Jamaica Made Certification Mark for marketing their products to the diaspora and linkages to the Tourism Industry.
The Training and Development workshop has been re-designed to be a Modular apprenticeship Workshop:

The Training and Development workshop is to be executed as follows:
A PowerPoint presentation which demonstrates the value chain contribution that businesses in each of the modules is expected to offer to the new high value bamboo Industry in Jamaica as well as technical aspect of bamboo craft produced within each module.
The PowerPoint presentations uses functional craft items as examples such as Bamboo Clock, bamboo Lamp and bamboo straws and bamboo cups as examples of the craft items that will be produced by all trainees. However, a mastery of techniques learned will enable successful trainees to produce a variety of products only limited by the imagination of the entrepreneur.
Augmenting objectives above, exposure to each modules of this Training Proposal will entail 2 hours of video and 10 hours of practical hands on contact time for each trainee taken in groups of 5. Exposure to all the modules will develop the ability of MSME’s to use the following equipment
