Description: This two-day workshop will provide participants with an understanding of the purpose, role and benefits of an Occupational Health and Safety Management System in their organization. The workshop will take a simple “do it yourself” approach to the understanding and application of the requirements of BS OHSAS 18001:2007 - Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems. Participants will be made aware of how to identify hazards in the workplace, assess their risks and manage them in a systematic, compatible, performance-based process approach provided in the standard.
Throughout the course participants will be given examples and problem solving demonstrations as well as the opportunity to apply the knowledge imparted and skills learned to practical, real life problems.
At the end of the workshop participants will posses:
Increased awareness of the importance and role of good safety management for their company’s operations;
Knowledge of approaches and techniques to identify hazards and associated risks in their operations;
Adequate knowledge of the elements and function of a safety management system for an organization;
Increased competence to initiate, develop and implement a safety management system based on the on BS OHSAS 18001 Standard
COURSE OBJECTIVE:
To provide participants with the learning opportunity to increase their awareness and understanding of requirements of the BS OHSAS 18001 Standard.
Based on the requirements of BS OHSAS 10881 participants will learn:
What is a process-based Occupational Health and Safety Management System
How to identify and assess occupational, health and safety hazards
How to develop policy, objectives and programme for OHS
How to identify and mange roles, responsibilities and resources
How to plan for and respond to emergencies
How to conduct an incident investigation to meet the requirements of the standard
How to use the Japanese 6S approach to implement the OHS Programme
