Technical Committees (TCs) are responsible for the development of standards. TCs are ideally composed of industry experts and representatives from government, academia, consumer groups and any other stakeholders who have an interest in the subject focus of the standard. The BSJ enables consensus to be reached among stakeholders on standards that meet both the requirements of industry and the broader needs of society, such as, health, safety and security. The roles of a TC member include: discussing and reviewing standards within the agreed timeframes; attending TC meetings; participating fully in all TC work and providing technical input into the standard being prepared; voting at the ballot stage and if the vote is negative, clearly presenting the technical justification; tracking and monitoring project progress and raising project issues and risks that need to be recorded and resolved; amongst other responsibilities. If you are interested in serving on a technical committee, please complete an Expression of Interest Form.
TCs are led by an Executive Team chosen from its members comprising a Chairperson, Vice Chairperson and Technical Secretary. The roles of the Executive Team are outlined below.
